NEW MEMBERS OF CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEES

NEW members have been appointed by the Minister of Transport to the Transport Users' Consultative Committees for East Anglia and the northeast.

The names of those appointed to serve on the East Anglian committee are Mr. R. V. Pohlman, Aid. P. J. Watts, Clir. G. A. Earl and Cllr. P. E. Taylor.

Mr. Pohlman is transport manager of George W. King, Ltd., Hitchin, and vice-chairman of the Hertfordshire Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association.

Ald. D. Dawson and CBE H. D. Tesseyman have been appointed to the North-Eastern committee.

The Minister has also appointed the following to serve for a further period as members of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee for the East Midland area: Ald, N. Gratton, Aid, W. W. Williamson and Clh. F. W. Holdich.

ACCIDENTS ON Z CROSSINGS

THE increased number of serious accidents to pedestrians on zebra crossings was mainly because more people were using the crossings, Mr. Hugh Molson, Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport,

told Lt.-Col. Lipton in a written answer on Monday.

Total accidents to pedestrians had been kept proportionately well below the increase in the number of vehicles since zebra crossings were introduced.
