Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the Continental-type logbook to keep drivers' records but find that in our books, at any rate, the duplicate sheet is perforated for detaching and handing in to the transport office. Is this correct?

Yes, it is quite correct. On the Continent the daily logsheet remains in the book and there is no duplicate and, therefore, no perforated copy. In the United Kingdom the requirement is that a copy of the daily logsheet is required to be handed to the employer. In these circumstances the carbon copy has been declared acceptable by the DoE in order to effect a reasonable compromise between the two systems.
