Europe with the establishment of an international sales office in the Salford Docks area of Manchester. The new office, employing about 120, will bring together the international sales activities of Leyland and Daf, based at Leyland and Eindhoven respectively. Leyland Daf communications director Martin Hayes says the international sales office will concentrate on two key ranges developed for the third world: the Comet, launched by Leyland a year before the Daf link-up; and Dafs range of heavy duty trucks, operating at 16 tonnes and above. Daf will also be keen to find overseas sales for its all new fourtonne 4x4 truck developed by Leyland Daf as a contender for the Ministry of Defence four-tonne contract.
