• A careers officer has blamed high bus 'ares for the number of school leavers on be dole. Mr F. Rogers, area careers officer 'or the Chelmsley Wood suburb of Birmingham, said last week that some ;chool leavers chose to go on the dole rather han pay as much as half their earnings on ms fares. The area is served by Midland Red at present. Mr Rogers said the situation on the 50,000 population dormitory estate would be improved if the West Midland Passenger Transport Executive took over the services. Its fares were lower than those of Midland Red.
