Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A DUPLICATE set of driving con fI is provided on the outside of a Morris-Commercial FV 12/5 refuse collector whieh has recently been supplied to Bunschoten Municipality. Holland. The purpose is to enable the driver to walk beside the vehicle when travelling from house to house, thereby saving time and effort in mounting and dismounting from the cab. A steering wheel on the off side of the cab is connected to the normal steering gear by a .90-degree drive. A dog clutch enables the supplementary steering wheel to be disconnected when the vehicle is travelling normally. An outside lever operates the clutch when moved forward and the brakes when in the rear position. Bowden cables supply the link. A small hand wheel enables the speed to be adjusted to a walking pace in first gear. The body is tipped hydraulically and the upper half, incorporating the flaps and roof container, may be removed by means of lifting eyes. During collection, the body is tipped from time to time to consolidate the load at the rear. Twin taildoors are provided to enable the load to be discharged. When the superstructure is removed. the vehicle can be used for road-maintenance work or general haulage.

AN automatic machine, able to produce as many as 200 spot welds in a continuous cycle of operations, has recently. been developed by Philips Electrical, Ltd.. Century House. Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W.C.2. Because of the complexity of the electrical load and the wide diVergence of power available in various production centres, the welding transformers and timing sequence are arranged so that the speed of operation and the number of welds made are variable. For this purpose the welder can be connected to the power supply in multiples commensurate with the power available.
