Carey, transport manager of Reckitt and Colman, Ltd., made this comment upon the Ministry of Transport's recent report on the growth of C-licences, when he spoke at Ipswich to the London and Home Counties Area of the Traders' Road Transport Association. • BRISTOL SHORT OF STAFF TWO HUNDRED more platform staff are required by the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd. A hundred are needed on the city routes and the rest to work from Gloucester, Bath and Stroud. The men are wanted to maintain duplicate services at peak periods and as a reserve against the incidence of sickness, for expanding services and improving services on other routes.

DRIVERS RETURN ON TERMS STRIKERS at the Selly Oak. Birmingham, depot of British Road Services, agreed to return to work last week, on condition that another superintendent took charge while their complaints were investigated. After a meeting between the management, trade-union officials and drivers, it was stated that Mr. C. Jennings, divisional traffic officer, would open an investigation. Immediately he arrived at the depot, a 14-tonner left with an urgent load.

BRUSSELS SUCCESS

THE recent Brussels show was the most successful Continental exhibition ever attended for F. Perkins. Ltd.. Peterborough. The Brussels Tramway Corporation has had two vehicles. fitted with Perkins P6 engines, on trial for over a year and has decided to equip the whole of its fleet with units of this type. A preliminary order for 50 engines was placed at the Show.

WASHING WITH DETERGENTS

ASIMPLE device newly produced by Lister Equipments, s Ltd., Manchester, I, enables detergents to be used in convenient tablet form for vehicle washing. It consists of a tubular dispenser which contains the tablets and is screwed between the end of the hose and the brush. The dispenser costs 31s. 6d. and the trade price of the Listergent tablets is 22s. for 250.
