Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

RENTAL GIANT ERS has added free fuel monitoring to its suite of web-based operator management information.

The system, known as Dieseogic, can be accessed at no charge by BRS customers via an internet connection, allowing them to monitor fuel consumption and driver behaviour on selected BRS artics equipped with Volvo's Dynafleet telematics kit.

BRS boss James Walker says 65% of BRS's 650-strong tractor fleet is currently fitted with Dynafleet —and by the end of next year the entire fleet will have it. Dieselog,ic will also be offered on BRS rigids; there are plans to provide fridge temperature monitoring, including trailers. by 2006.

Dieselogic's key reports include total fuel used and consumption in mpg as well as time spent with cruise control engaged and in top gear. It also provides driver 'black mark' data such as over-revving and excessive idling.

Walker says: "What we want to do is allow people to get into tech nology who are frightened of it.The guy with typically seven trucks won't want to buy expensive fleet management software — now he can get the same service from BRS. All he needs is the internet."

Using Dynafleet as the technology platform Walker says that in the future BRS aims to help drivers make their daily safety checks electronically via a hand-held unit and then transmit them back to the traffic office along with point-ofdelivery confirmation and their daily drivers' hours data.
