Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AMOBILE shop, a four-wheeldrive timber -tractor, a. number, of loaders and diggers, and many types of trailer, will go to form the main transport interest at this year's Smithfield Show, which is being held at Earls Court from 'Debember 5-9.

The inobiie, shop to be shown by Smiths'. Delivery Vehicles, Ltd., Gateshead-on-Tyne, 11 (Stand 266), is based on a Smiths' N.C.B. 1-ton batteryelectric chassis. It is equipped with a stainless-steel washbasin supplied with hot water from an insulated tank, soap and paper-towel dispensers, chopping block, waste bin, stainless-steel meat rails, and detachable anodized aluminium trays for storage and display purposes.

An insulated cold-storage cabinet can be refrigerated by means of eutectic inserts. Formica is used on the counter tops and 'non-slip aluminium chequer plate on the shop assistant's section of the floor.

A tractor designed to provide a higher drawbar pull than can be obtained with a normal two-wheel-drive Machine under conditions where it is not practical to use a crawler tractor, will be exhibited on Stand 192 by County Commercial Cars (Sales), Ltd., 121 Albert Street, Fleet, Hants. Known as the County Fourdrive, it has four wheels of equal size, all of which are driven.

Steering is by braking the left-hand or right-hand wheels. With 12.00-24,00 (6-ply) open-bar tyres the Maximum sustained drawbar pull is 8,300 lb, The tractor will take a hydraulic dozer or winch of 8-10-ton capacity, or a cabte control unit for operating a 3-4-cu.-yd.

Whitlock Bros., Ltd., Great Yeldham, Essex (Stand 73), will include among c14 thiir exhibits a Dinkum Digger and a tipping trailer.

The Dinkurn Digger is a device for making trenches. It is designed for mounting on the rear axle of a tractor and operates hydraulically. Power is derived from a small pump driven by the tractor. It will be shown mounted on Poulson Major and Ferguson trac

tors. Trenches Up tO 10 ft. deep and 3 ft. wide are within its capacity.

The Whitlock heavy-duty tipping trailer is of 5-ton capacity. The model to be shown is a modified version of the standard product and is intended mainly for use under rigorous overseas conditions.

Although the Stanhay hydraulic-hoist is mostly used on tractors, it can also be fitted to a lorry. Stanhay (Ashford), Ltd., Elwick Works, Ashford, Kent, will be showing examples of the hoist, together with a full range of grabs, on Stand 136.

A new feature of the Quality loader to be shown by Skybi, Ltd., Worton Read, Isleworth, Middx, is that all the implements used with it are hydraulically operated. Another Skyhi exhibit will be the Ardua loader fitted with a shovel of li-cu.-yd. capacity. With this device, double-acting rams give hydraulic control over tipping and retrieving operations.

A lighter loader will be found on Stand 164 (Telehoist, Ltd., Telehoist Works, Cheltenham, Glos). The loader, which will be shown as a model, is automatic in operation to the extent that when the load is placed on its cradle, a hydraulic valve is opened. Relieved, of -the weight, the cradle automatically returns to ground level.

The equipment will lift hales weighing 120 lb. to a height of approximately 13 ft. 6 in. Telehoist, Ltd., will also be showing a range of tip-Ping gears suitable for fitting to trailers.

Many different types of trailer will be displayed by Taskers of Andover (1932), Ltd., Andover, Hants; on Stand 72. Payload capacities range from 4 cwt. to 3 tons.

A full range of trailers will form the exhibit of S. W. Wheatley (Trailers), Ltd., Wheatley Avenue, Padholme Road,. Peterborough (Stand 210).

A feature will be made by the Spenborough. Engineering Co., Ltd., Valley Works, Union Road, Heckmondwike, Yorks, of hydraulic rams arid pumps.
