Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Holland now has exceeded the pre-war level. In May, 1940, 4,700 buses were running in the Netherlands, but in May, l945, only 500. many of which were in a bad shape, were left. Tri August, 1946, the Dutch road transport fleet had increased to 1,922 buses and 2,600 goods vehicles. which were being used for passenger transport. Two years later the pre-war level had nearly been reached, 4,617 buses and 1,950 auxiliary vehicles being operated.

Holland now has 5,200 buses, whilst 1,380 trucks transport workthen.

Generally speaking the present fleet is sufficient to meet demands and there is no need for an immediate increase. It is felt that it would be uneconomic_ at the present to -substitute buses for the goods vehicles that are being used to carry passengers.

In fact, there is a surplus of buses, as several of the record order of 925, placed with Crossley Motors, Ltd , by the Netherlands Railways after the war, are now idle. Because of the unexpectedly speedy recovery of the railway system, these buses hive never been used and will be sold to private owners.

EDBROIST TIPPING GEAR IMPROVEMENTS EXTENSIVE research into wearing life and operating conditions of the Edbroist tipping gear has resulted in a number of improvements in design. The Edbroist is a product of Edward Bros. (Tippers), Ltd., Bolton, and is a

power operated end-tipping gear, which incorporates the Edbro sixcylindered wobble-plate pump unit.

The design now incorporates neat and efficient operating levers in the cab. The new layout also provides for the layshaft to act as selector, which makes for positive and robust action. A combined control and overload valve is incorporated in the gear, giving hydraulically assisted gravity return.

Improvements have also been made in the tank body, in which a new type of breather is incorporated.
