WE recently Visited the engineering works in Sydney Street, King's Road, Chelsea, London, S.W.3, which constitutes the training centre of the Automobile Engineering Training College, of which Mr. C. H. Roberts, A.I.A.E., F.I.M.T., is the principal.

We were Most impressed by the very thorough way in which instruction is given in every phase of motor engineering. In view of this, we were interested to learn of a new scholarship scheme which has been arranged for students who wish to qualify for membership of the Institute of the Motor Trade.

In the circular which has been issued by the College, it is pointed out that there is undoubtedly a large number deserving men, in particular, apprentices and junior employees, who are seriously handicapped by their inability to pay for education to the standards required by the Institute, and it is this class which the Institute of the Motor Trade desires to help. The Automobile Engineering Training College has, therefore, agreed to grant to selected candidates 50 scholarships in the I.M.T. official correspondence course, at half rates.

The conditions are that (1) cancffdates must be actually employed in a branch of the motor trade; (2) applications for scholarships must be certified, by a fellow or member of the Institute, that the candidate is a person who would profit by education and benefit by the reduction in fees; (8) candidates must pass a test paper, which will be sent on application, forms for which can be obtained from the Director of Studies, and which must be returned not later than December 14.

The fees are: Division I (technical), £5 10s.; Division II (salesmanship), £6 12s., compared with the normal charges of in Os. 6d. and £13 2s. 6d. respectively. Payment can be made in eleven monthly instalments. The courses carry the guarantee of the College to coach students until they are successful in the examination.
