Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

drawbar connections, particularly those at the ends connecting to the trailer, but, unfortunately, little attention seems to be paid to this important detail. Owners and drivers find many causes on which to Icy the blame for this swaying, such as high loads, roads with severe cambers and greasy surfaces. However, practically all the trouble starts at the connections.

Some trailer makers are at fault, because one sometimes sees a drawbar with a 1k-in. hole and a 1-in, pin, which is incorrect and gives a good start to subsequent wear. The pin should be a drive-in fit.

Another fault is that the trailer ends of the drawbar are not always sufficiently widely spaced. Taking a case of this class, let us assume that there is wear to the extent of k in. at the trailer connections of the drawbar ; the amount of " travel " at the ends of the trailer forecarnage will be a good deal more than k in. If, however, the drawbar be fixed to the ends of the forecarriage, the "travel" will never be more than the amount of wear.

It is this swaying that has caused many people to regard trailers as dangerous, and yet it could be nullified by exercising a little care over these apparently minor items.
