Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IR Italian police have started to impound British trucks for committing relatively minor offences on the autostrada, according to the Freight Transport Association.

Don Armour FTA manager of international services, says two members have complained about the new crackdown over the last two months.

In one case, a driver reversed away from a toll booth after the system refused to accept his payment card. Police said he should have carried on through. In another the driver crossed over to the other carriageway when he discovered he had come the wrong way. "There was no central reservation so he decided to do a U-turn," says Armour.

"Both vehicles have been impounded for three months. ft seems way over the top to what would normally happen. Police may have started doing everything by the book because it's the holiday season and there are a lot of families touring about."
