Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE IMMINENT closure of an essential West Yorkshire VOSA testing station has been deferred after a local MP stepped in to save it.

Ann Cryer, MP for Keighley, West Yorks, has won a temporary reprieve for the Steeton, Bradford station, which was due to shut its doors on 23 April.

The closure was halted following the Labour MP's meeting with Department for Transport (DfT) minister Jim Fitzpatrick on 30 March CMP backs cats to save Steeton testing station', CM 19 March), "We asked for the deferment and were please to receive assurances that the station will not close until what the minister described as very late this year," Cryer says.

Roger McDowell, MD at Keighley-based McDowell Distribution, says: This is a very welcome decision. The closure would have meant we had to travel to Leeds."

However, plans for VOSA station closures in Stockport and St Austell will be announced this month.
