Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Christopher Watton THE CHRONIC LACK of secure truck parking facilities has been eased with the opening of two new sites in southern England.

Regular users of the M25 desperate to stop on the 64-mile serviceless stretch between South Mimms and Clacket Lane will be relieved by the opening of Extra Motorway Services' new truck park near Junction 2 of the M40.

The site, which has 60 HGV parking spaces as well as six dedicated HGV fuel pumps in Shell's largest UK filling station, is only five miles away from Junction 16 of the M25.

Extra Motorway Services, which says the services have been 16 years in development, describes the site as: "Our newest and Britain's largest new concept motorway service."

It is also developing a service station between Junctions 9 and 10 of the M25 near Cobham, scheduled to open in early 2010.

And further towards the south coast, the official opening of a new 100-space lorry park near Dover port also takes place this week.

Neal Williams, MD at Priority Freight, says drivers wanting to park up overnight have access to showers and a restaurant, and can sleep soundly due to the presence of high-security measures on the park, which is next to the A2.

He adds that during April, firsttime visitors get a £10 meal voucher thrown in as well:This will fall back down to £5 from May.

Drivers can park at the site, but the official opening — involving a local MP and Dover's deputy mayor — takes place this week.

Referring to the shortage of lorry parking spaces in the area, Williams says: "There's nothing here and nothing along the Al until you get close to London or the A2 and M2. So, we are very excited about the truck park. By not having our own vehicles, we have more space for lorries."
