Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UNIONS HAVE accused Morrisons of double dealing after it announced the closure of three depots with up to 2,500 redundancies just hours after agreeing to talks designed to halt strike action.

The T&G and GMB unions are angry that the supermarket reviewed its distribution network without involving them, then issued a press statement while talks on the very same issues were continuing. They now warn strike action is likely today (Thursday).

"The future of Morrisons' distribution after the Safeway takeover has always been a worry for us, particularly in respect of job security" says T&G national organiser Brian Revell. "It would have been better had Morrisons let the talks progress before issuing a statement" GMB national officer Jude Brimble says Morrisons has behaved disgracefully: "It is the unacceptable face of big business. GMB believe the review has been built on a conspiracy of deceit and deception which has as its object of policy the undermining of decent pay and conditions that apply at the depots to be closed."

Morrisons is obliged by law to consult with its workforce and their unions for 90 days before the announcement of closure.

But Morrisons warehouse and distribution director Chris Noone says: "These recommendations follow a detailed review of each depot's operational circumstances and lit within the network. We are currently discussing the proposals and consulting with all those concerned with a view to agreeing a plan for the best way forward."
