Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Van, Incentive

While the MPG Marathon rewards frugal driving, it would be fair to say that the final figures aren't entirely realistic for operators working to strict deadlines with variable payloads and unpredictable operating routes.

However, with some extra driver training coupled with a selection of incentives to save fuel, there's no reason why operators won't get at least a 10% improvement n economy. Just ask Sky Television, which participated in one of its own stock-standard Vauxhall Vivaros.

Richard Lazell, Sky field team manager, says: 'With a fleet of 2,500 vans, we have to maximise fuel usage and reduce our carbon output. We've entered our vans as they are in the field with roof-mounted ladders and installation equipment in tow. We drove extremely economically. achieVng 39.6mpg, but, obviously, engineers are up against the clock, so even if they can drive half as economically as we did, it'll be a massive saving for us.'
