The card wit only be issued once the driver has completed the 35 hours of approved training, and drivers will only be required to carry the card after September 2014.
However, Barlow advised that once the driver had got the card, they should get into the habit of carrying it with their licence. You should have existing systems for checking that drivers are correctly qualified and making sure they have the right Driver CPC," he said. "Operators will have to take reasonable steps to make sure drivers carry the card, and this could be by including it in written driver procedures and instructions."
