Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IT WAS RECENTLY reported in the Press that Philip Taylor, trading as Taylors Transport of Tamworth Road, Litchfield, who was being prosecuted for handling four stolen tractors, a stolen trailer and nine stolen excise licenses, has stated at Stoke Crown Court during his trial that he had bought the tractors (three Volvos and a Scania) from William Swims, a truck dealer from Lancashire, who had told him they were hire-purchase re-possession vehicles. Taylor also stated that the vehicles had been delivered by Mr Swires. He further stated that a tilt trailer had been left at his premises by Mr Swires who had wondered if it were of any use to him, and that Mr Swires had been told to take it back.

These allegations against Mr Swires are untrue.

Mr Swires did not sell these tractors or the trailer to Taylor and has never made such statements about hire purchase re-possession vehicles, nor did he sell any excise licences to Taylor.

The vehicles were not delivered by Mr Swires. Mr Swires has never delivered any vehicles whatsoever to Taylor's premises or his dwellinghouse or elsewhere on his behalf.

When police inquiries were being pursued, Mr Swires was interviewed and made a full and frank statement to the police. He has been completely cleared of any involvement in this case.

The court did not believe these allegations and found Taylor guilty of the charges and sentenced him to three years imprisonment.
