Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

/ am buying a coach from a municipal passenger Iran;port operator which I intend to VII as an enthusiast for show urposes. The psv licence will he surrendered by the operator 1-1(1 the certificate of fitness will '7ave expired before l take ielivery. Presumably this will ea ve the vehicle without an MoT test certificate which it will need as a private vehicle.

If the road tax is reclaimed by he operator, how will I be able o take it to a test centre? Must take it to the test centre 7earest the place of purchase or an I take it from Wales to Yorkshire for testing?

AExcise duty on motor vehicles is governed by the provisions of the Vehidles (Exise) Act 1971. Section 5 (I) (a) states that a mechanically propelled vehicle shall not be harged with duty under the

■ ct by reason of its use on Public roads (a) solely for the purpose of submitting it by Previous arrangement for a specified time on a specified :late for, or bringing it away 'rom a compulsory test.

No restriction about where he test must be is specified_ Therefore, you should Irrange with the garage of your hoice the time and date of the est and preferably have this :onfirmed in writing. There is hen no reason why you should lot drive it from where it is Purchased directly to where it is o be tested. However, it is suggested that this iourney should finish at the garage chosen. It would not be prudent, for instance, to take it to your home overnight and drive on to the garage the following day.
