Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE SYSTEM for obtaining Terrier truck spares is the same as that for the Austin Morris range of Leyland Cars. The hub of the operation is the central parts headquarters at Cowley which, in turn, supports the 120 Redline distributors in the UK and overseas distributors.

When you place your order on a Redline distributor, depending on the urgency, he will select the appropriate action. There are two systems, the standard and the Vehicle Off Road (VOR) system.

Make sure that the vehicle chassis number, model type and year of manufacture are supplied to the distributor. He can then determine the correct part number.

The chassis number and model type is given on the vehicle plate which is usually fixed to the bulkhead in front of the passenger seat. The year of manufacture is quoted in the vehicle log book.

When obtaining parts for vehicle assemblies such as the engine, gearbox and axle the specification number of the assembly is required. For instance when ordering a piston give the engine number.

Finally, when ordering make sure that the distributor is made aware of the urgency for the part wanted.

Standard procedure

The standard order procedure is precisely what it says. The distributor places a regular weekly order to maintain his stocks of fast moving items. Ordering on this basis minimises warehouse and staff costs and so helps to minimise spares prices.

Vehicles Off Road (VOR)

If a part is not in distributor stock and cannot be obtained from a quick search around other distributors then the VOR system is employed.

If a VOR order is received at Cowley before 10am on any day between Monday and Thursday inclusive, the spare part(s) can be delivered to the distributor on the following day.

Orders received before 10am on Friday are made ready for Monday delivery and orders received after 10am Friday and over the weekend for delivery on Tuesday.

In the case of a particular supply problem the distributor can telephone the spares liaison officer within the parts operation at Cowley where special efforts are made to solve any problem.

In the event of a roadside breakdown the driver, or operator, should contact the nearest Redline distributor. He wil make the best possible use ol the VOR facility to get youi vehicle back on the roac quickly.

A comprehensive spare stock is kept in depots strateg• ically located throughout thr EEC countries.

Full details of UK and over seas distributors offering span part, service and breakdowi faciiities are given in twi brochures, Distributors an Dealers UK; and Distributor and Dealers Europe. Copie are obtainable from local dis tributors and should be kept i the cab at all times.
