Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE DEPARTMENT for Transport (MT) has rubbished national press stories about trials of longer, heavier vehicles (LHVs) as "unfounded and speculative".

The DfT is awaiting the results of a study into LHVs by HeriotWatt University and the Transport Research Laboratory. It is due to be published in February ( RHA asks government to go ahead with LGV trials', CM 22 November). However "this is just a study to inform future decision-making and nothing to dowith atrial," says a spokeswoman. The current position is they are not allowed."

Former Transport Secretary Stephen Ladyman told CM he would consider longer trucks if the turning circle was reasonable, however extra weight was seen as more of a problem.
