Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

travelling on motorways near Bristol following a spate of accidents that has left several motorists dead or seriously injured.

Over the past month there have been a string of minor accidents and several fatal ones on the roads around the M4/ M5 interchange which is sometimes known as the "Bristol Box".

"We have had an extraordinary run of bad accidents over the past 10 months and a particularly bad past four weeks," says Dave Sheppard, chief inspector of the road policing unit at Avon & Somerset Police.

He says that the number of people killed on the roads in his

area had already exceeded th total last year and there ar still seven weeks to go. Mos forces will report a drop i deaths this year.

Several of the accidentsparticularly those involvin trucks—have occurred ver early in the morning and drive fatigue is thought to be a issue. However so is congestio which has been made worse b recent roadworks.

"There's no one thing caus ing it -a lot of the accident have been attributed to drive fatigue but this is one of th most congested parts of th roads network and people ar simply driving too close to th vehicle in front. When it got wrong there simply isn't an where for vehicles to go," h says.
