AN "assessment and demonstration" of battery and hybrid electric vehicles at London's County Hall on December 11 is to be organised by the Electric Vehicle Development Group in conjunction with the Greater London Council and the Freight Transport Association.

The meeting will be opened by Terry Goldrick, director, engineering services of the FTA, who will be putting forward the requirements of his members for both local delivery vehicles and long distance transport.

Technical developments taking place with both battery and hybrid electrical systems will be reviewed, and during the twohour demonstration of vehicles, there will be the chance to examine and ride in a number of vehicles from Lucas, Chloride, Techelec and Lee-Dickens.

A new type of motor designed specifically for the EVDG car b Nelco Ltd will be on view, whole Other EVDG members contribui ing their latest developments ti the prototype will include BIC( Components Ltd, Oldham Bat teries Ltd, and Eberspacher UK.

The day's programme wi also include reports on electrice vehicle usage while David Ba\, liss of the GLC will compare th results of the first programme with delivery vehicles in Londo and Cambridgeshire.
