Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Rotadate system is used for planning and ensuring the continuity of maintenance programmes. The chart has a black polystyrene backing which is perforated to take variously shaped and coloured polythene flags, letters, and numbers and it has a horizontal six-month timescale.

Each maintenance subject is allocated an index card, which is located on the left of the chart, and each card is linked to an elasticated "Flowline" which is moved across the time-scale to indicate maintenance progress.

A vertical "today's date" marker highlights daily progress. Any stages, task or operations which are behind schedule show up as unlinked signals to the left of the marker.

The time-scale is vertically divided in removable background sections; once plotting has proceeded beyond the first time period, it is simply slid out and replaced at the right-hand side of the chart once the remaining sections have been shifted along. The chart always shows activity over the current 6-month period.

Two charts are available covering either 50 or 100 maintenance items, though other special requirements can be produced.
