Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN AN EDITORIAL in our issue of 8th November we strongly advocated the manifestation of a sPirit of conciliation among interests devoted to the manufacture of flexible containers. We have not yet assimilated the American commercial doctrine under such contingencies, namely, that it is more profitable to combine or co-operate rather than to pbur money into the pockets of hungry lawyers. In this instance, bearing in mind thnpeculiar conditions which prevail, 4nci which have probably never been paralleled in British industry, we incline to the thought that such action as we advocated would prove eminently Satisfactory to !all concerned. This feeling is shared by .others as the following correspondence reveals. The Editor., THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR. We have to thank you for the pub

lication of our patent 'Gas on Motors' and the kindly expression of the hope of a reasonable understanding being arrived at between the manufacturers and the patentees. We on our part will do everything to encourage and further business for the mutual advantage of au s parties concerned on most reasonable terms.

We consider certain stipulations should be arranged to ensure a reliable holder being supplied to the veers, and the holders should confofm to a reasonable test pressure of, say, 2 ins. to 5 ins, of water maintained for two hours, and the holders should also be fitted with a safety valve or releaea at this pressure to prevent straining the fabric from which the container is made, with the attendant ill results.—Yours faithfully, B-eeston, ,Notts. *BenToN Raw.

The Editor, Tim COMMERCIAL MOTOR.

The Editor, TIEE COMMERCIAL MOTOR. ' May we express to you our full approval of the suggested meeting of manufacturers of coal-gas containers? In our opinion this is a most important matter, and any scheme with such an end in view would have our support—Yours

f aithfully, C. E. P/KETT, Nottingham. TAYLOR AND Ross.
