Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The manufacturers are given the exact specification they must follow, are told the test route well in advance and know when to turn up with their trucks.

With a spec of about 560hp, fuel consumption was nowhere near as important as driveability, since not many people buy such a powerful truck with fuel saving in mind.

It is for this reason that the mighty V8s dominated this year's 1,000-Point Test. Their superior torque and well-matched rear axle set-up helped them cruise up the hills, while the sixes were frequently changing gear to keep up.

In-cab spec was definitely dominated by Mercedes-Benz and MAN, with Scania and lveco not quite displaying premium qualities.

This test proved that, as long as a truck has the correct driving position and does what the right foot asks of it, it can be a winner.
