AN American company with whom Perkins Gas Turbines, Ltd., have agreed to ,make industrial gas turbines, are developing such units for vehicle applications in co-operation with the U.S. Forces, Perkins Gas Turbines is the new name of the Sugg-Solar concern, of London, which has been bought by F. Perkins, Ltd., following an agreement with the Solar Aircraft Co., San Diego, U.S.A., to make turbines in this country and sell American-made units in Europe, Africa and the Commonwealth, excluding Canada.

Sugg-Solar held the licence to make the Mars 50 h.p. unit, now being produced at Peterborough. It weighs 98 lb. complete with standard reduction gearbox and all controls, and is used-in America for water pumps, compressors 'and mobile generators. Next year, Perkins Gas Turbines will start to make Titan 70 h.p. and T-1-50 170 h.p. engines. Outputs of other Solar engines are of up to 1.500 h.p.
