PAYMENTS FOR CASUAL HAULAGE.— The monthly statement RH/C/4, which operators have in the past been required to complete and submit as a summary of the work done, is to be discontinued. CHARTERED FLEET GROWS.—The calling-up programme now being carried out will bring the strength of the chartered fleet at the end of the month to just over 350 vehicles.

DEFENCE LINES DEFICIENCIES.—Ill the past few weeks the member of new enrolments for the Defence Lines has fallen off very noticeably. Southern Scotland continuess to lead by a substantial margin and this plainly indicates that there is room for a great many more in other Divisions.
