IS THIS THE American Class-8 tractive unit of the future?
The Revolution Innovation Concept Truck, developed by Freightliner and Toray Carbon Fibers America, was unveiled last week at the Mid-America Trucking Show. It features a carbon-fibre bonnet, roof cap, side-wall and back-wall – the first time the material has been used in heavy-duty truck construction.
The use of lightweight, low-density, honeycomb material and carbon-fibre components results in significantly more interior space and functionality than a normal all-steel day cab, while weighing less than a larger sleeper.
