• Congestion is so severe on the M25 that about 30% of hauliers avoid it says a Transport Studies Group report. The worst black spots are the Dartford Tunnel and the intersections with the MI and M3.
But the M25 is still profitable for those who do use it, with nearly 50% of the 232 firms interviewed reporting that the M25 allows them to move more freight per vehicle, and 39% claiming to have cut fuel and maintenance costs. Another 46% claimed more predictable journey times, despite congestion.
