• The first Foden trucks to be fitted with the new Perkins TX engine have gone into service with British Telecom subsidiary BT UK Logistics in a £900,000-plus deal.

The 242kW (325hp) Perkins TX engine is complemented by an Eaton 12-speed Twin Splitter transmission.

BT UK Logistics plans to double-shift the 22 new twinsteer tractive units on trunking work between six regional depots, covering up to 125,000km a year.

All the vehicles are specified with Skidchek ABS, low-profile tyres, stainless-steel exhausts and twin aluminium fuel tanks offering a 391-litre capacity. 0 Pioneer Concrete (UK) has taken delivery of the first of five Foden 4000 Series, 30tonne 8x4, 8m3 cement mixer trucks. They are powered by Caterpillar 201kW (270hp) engines coupled to Eaton ninespeed transmissions. Each vehicle is fitted with a highpayload Ritemixer body and Foden FF20 rubber suspension. There are doublecross locks and a lockable third differential on the Eaton DS401P drive axles. The latest order follows the delivery of 25 Foden 3000 Series mixers last year.
