A 26 PER CENT increase in new truck sales in 1985 helped Lex Service's transport division to record much healthier profit levels than the previous year.

The group's biggest improvement Came from its Leyland Truck franchises, where sales were up 36 per cent on the previous year, and now account for 12 per cent of Leyland's UK registrations.

Volumes also increased in the company's parts and services departments, with increases of 11 per cent and 5.6 per cent respectively, but no profit details are available.
