Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

of safety devices on articulated vehicles? I seem W recall seeing something of this sort.

A Last month in the House of Commons, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Neil Carmichael, said mai extended trials of one type of anti-jack-knife device fitted to a large fleet of vehicles in normal operation were now proceeding and that arrangements for similar large-snale trials of another kind of device were well advanced. He added that these operational trials might need to continue for 12 months Of more before conclusions could be reachec.

There have been several suggestions in recent months that such devices should bc made compulsory, but the Ministry is obviously awaiting the outcome of these fleet trials before making any move. The probability is that by the time any legal requirement is laid down {for example, through Type Approval provisions) virtually all artics will be using some type of safety device, whether at the king-pin or in the braking system. to supplement the improved stability which current designs and properly matched braking are already providing.
