Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THC chief executive G. W. Quick-Smith was in even more than usually thoughtful mood when, as Master, he spoke at the Mansion House dinner of the Worshipful Company of Carmen last week. He was making a very convincing plea for the City Guilds to play a part in bridging the gap between the generations by bringing tradition and youth into sensible association, and he thought it essential to refresh the Livery Companies with new blood and to encourage the younger members to prepare themselves for later responsibility.

Maybe you can picture the scene when he turned to the Lord Mayor and said: "Somewhere, my Lord Mayor, there is a youth, perhaps with long hair and dressed in Carnaby Street gear, who will 30 years hence be sitting in the very seat you now occupy. But who, in the meantime, with our help, will have gained the wisdom, maturity and experience that so high a position as yours demands".

Mr. Quick-Smith also revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh will be the principal guest at the anniversary banquet at the Guildhall on July 24.
