Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QPEC1FICALLY designed to combat fires on inflammable liquids, including alcohols and industrial solvents, and electrical equipment, a new dry-powder fire extinguisher has been announced by Nu Swift, Ltd., Elland, Yorkshire.

Simple to operate, the extinguisher is worked by striking a knob, which results in theernission of a cloud of fine powder under pressure from carbondioxide gas. In the hands of a novice it is said to be capable of quelling a petrol fire 9 sq. ft. in area, whilst with an experienced operator the zone is increased to 14 sq. ft. In still air at 6Y F. the cloud has a range of 10 ft., and is 4 ft. wide and 21ft. deep.

The new extinguisher discharges in 8 seconds and may be recharged in 30 seconds.

It is. suitable for any application where compressed air is required up to a continuous pressure of SO p.s,i.

Although, operated in conjunctionwith a spray gun, its main purpose is for spray painting, it has other uses. Priced at £39 17s. 6d., complete with 15 ft. of hose and an Appinco M.B. spray gun, the appliance has no belts or couplings.

New Hose Reel Unit ANEW fire-fighting hose reel unit has been introduced by the Pyrene Co., Ltd., 9 Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.I. It is particularly suitable for outbreaks involving combustible materials,

such as wood, paper, cloth, upholstery, and so on where a cooling or wetting action is required.

The unkinkable hose -t an be run out in any direction without the obstruction

ot swinging joints. Complete with hose, the reel is mounted on a bearing fixed to a wall bracket. The water supply passes through the back centre of the reel and through the hose, which terminates in a shut-off nozzle cock.

The unit can be accommodated in a recess 4 ft. by 3 ft. by I ft.

New Solenoid Valve ANEW solenoid-operated valve, designed to handle large flows at very high pressures, has been produced by .Teddington Industrial Equipment, Ltd., Sunbury-On-Thames, Middlesex. It is a trio-way piloted-piston type and its method of Construction makes it suitable for use in a variety of hydraulic, pneumatic and similar applications.

The valve is intended for the control of chemically inert fluids or gases bp to 1,650 p.s.i. It 9n be made in sizes ranging from 1-m. to 2-in, bore and arranged either to open . or to close when the solenoid is energized. It has two 'Main assemblies, the solenoidoperated pilot valve and the piston main-valve unit. The solenoid is wound for 24y. o.c.
