I-1 A RECENT addition to the Austin range is a 4-tormer powered by the B.M.C. 3.4-litre oil engine. Designed to supplement the existing Series III truck range by catering for bulky loads of medium weight, the new model is available in both normal and forwardcontrol versions.

It can have either a drop-sided or platform body with an internal length of 16 ft. 6 in. and a width of 7 ft. The wheelbase is 13 ft. 4 in.

rOACH tours run on the Continent

by Linjebuss are to be linked this summer with Silver City Airways' Silver Arrow coach-air-rail service between London and Paris and Brussels. Each of the 'Linjebuss coaches will be equipped with radio, toilet facilities and a pantry, and will carry an English-speaking hostess.

BRITISH TOURS WANTED

APROTEST against the banning of coach tours in Eire by British • operators has been made by the Irish Hotelier.

" It is quite farcical that we should yearly spend £400,000 on trying to attract visitors from the ends of the earth, while at the same time, by deliberate and positive action, we exclude visitors who are on our doorstep," it is stated in an editorial.

The journal seeks reasons from the Minister for Industry and Commerce why the ban should not be lifted.

BUSES REPLACE MORE TRAMS

THE next step in Sheffield Corporation's tram-abandonment scheme will be taken in May, when the Crookes-Handsworth route will be converted to motorbus operation. The corporation are to order 46 double-deck buses, for delivery in 1960, which will replace trams.
