IN Gazette 41 only the reference numbers of applications to be heard at this week's Dundee and Aberdeen sittings are published.
Northern.
APRIL 1st is the date fixed for the Berwick-on-Tweed sitting. The Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd., will be beard in connection with several excursion backings, other applicants for this class of licence being J. Bullock and Sons (1928), Ltd.. Crosville Motor Services, Ltd., Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., and a number of others.
Yorkshire.
AT Leeds on April 5th a busy pro gramme will be carried through. It includes all classes of service, there being a large batch of excursion aPPlienflops by the Yorkshire (Woollen District) Electric Tramways, Ltd. These are objected to by the railway interests, the Yorkshire Motor Coach Owners Association and others. Stage and excursion applications by several of the independent and smaller operators in the area are meeting with railway opposition, and there will be a fair amount of argument over some of the more difficult cases. The L.N.E.R. Co. is actually objecting to excursion applications made by its associated company, United Automobile Services, Ltd. West Midland.
A LARGE additional list of objectors has now been published in connection with the applications listed for hearing at Birmingham this week. The , "Midland Red" undertaking will oppose ' independent express-service applicants interested in routes between the Midlands and the Western Area, and will appear in conjunction with Elliott Brothers (Bournemouth), Ltd., in opposition to the application of Messrs. Pass and Higgs, Ltd., for a new service between Birmingham and Bonrnemouth. Practically all the long-distance services being considered at this sitting will be opposed by railway interests.
Eastern.
A SITTING has been arranged in Nor
wich for April 12th and the following days, and already lists of applications are available. Mpdified services and one new service are being applied for by Norwich Electric Tramways Co., which company is opposing the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., in connection with a proposed modification of a service between Norwich Thorpe Station and Ringlaud.
Generally speaking, this will not be a difficult sitting, although there will be some argument over entirely new services for which some independent operators have applied. North-Western.
THE applications for modified and en tirely new services constitute a considerable proportion of the business to be handled at the Manchester sitting opening On April 4th. On April 12th the Commissioners will fix uniform fares for excursions and tours, first considering schedules submitted.
South-Eastern.
A SITTING opens at London to
morrow, when a good many new and modified services will come np for consideration. The main concern will be express services, and, in this connection, J. Bennett (Croydon), Ltd., is being opposed by railway-associated companies and by the Southern Railway Co. in regard to routes between Croydon and the coast. On the Bournemouth line A. Timpson and Sons, Ltd., as well as Elliott Brothers (Bournemouth), Ltd., are joining in the opposition.
Metropolitan.
THE Commissioner is holding no sit ting this week, but will be occupied on three days next week dealing with express services, excursions and tours. Ealing Direct Motor Coaches, Ltd., will meet the opposition of the Southern Railway, Elliott Brothers (Bournemouth), Ltd., and the Southdown concern ill regard to its express services between Ealing and the south coast.
