• Scarborough & District Motor Services, part of the East Yorkshire Motor Services group, carried out the first stage of a changeover from double-deckers to minibuses on 18 June. When the second stage follows on 23 July, the town's 20 double-deckers will have been replaced by 18 31seat 811D and 25-seat 709D Reeve Burgess/Mercedes-Benz minibuses, joining 14 Reeve Burgess Mercedes van conversion minibuses.

S&DMS general manager Eric Boyes says that the advent of 31-seat minibuses made the conversion of the whole network possible, and he hoped increased frequencies would attract new passengers.

Only two double-deckers, used for summer season work, will remain. The changeover will also make it possible to vacate the former tram depot in Vernon Road.
