Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As opposed to the bulk of the exhibits which are shown in their new finish,. Ailey Trailers, Ltd., Burnham Market, Norfolk, on Stand 398B, will have as its main exhibit one of the first Alley low-loading trailers produced. This piece of equipment will he shown in a dirty and rather rusty condition, following the four years of its continuous service. Another lowloader will have a platform area of 12 ft. by 5 ft. 9 ins., which, with 2-ft. 6-in. sides, gives a capacity of 172

cubic ft.

There will be nine different types of Austin vehicle on Stand 612 C, which is arranged by Marshalls (Cambridge), Ltd., for the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., Longbridge, Birmingham. These exhibits will include examples of the A40 as a van and with pick-up and Countryman bodies, an A70 pickup. a 25-cwt. Three-way van, and a 5-ton truck. There will also be a 25-cwt. chassis and cab with truck body, a 2-ton :hassis and cab with a general-purpose :attle-truck body, and a 5-ton chassis and cab with cattle-truck body having rigid sides. The bodywork on the last three vehicles mentioned is by Marshall Motor Bodies, Ltd.

Stand 599 C will be occupied by Commer Cars, Ltd., Luton, and a feature will be made of the latest Commer Superpoise range, which will be shown for the first time with a new power unit which develops 85 b.h_p. Of the six-cylindered overhead-valve type, its design is based on the maker's underfloor unit. Altogether, there will be 14 Comrner and Karrier exhibits ranging from the Minx estate car to 7-tonners with forward control. Most of these will have

standard bodywork, but one of the 2-3-ton Superpoise tippers will be equipped with Edbro hydraulic endtipping gear, and the new 85 b.h.p. sixcylindered petrol engine. Another 2-3-ton Superpoise model, of 12-ft. 11-in, wheelbase, will be fitted with a 12-ft.-long drop-side body.

On the 3-4-ton Superpoise chassis, there will -be a Carmichael livestock container body, and another special model will' be the Commer 5-ton limespreader.

Other Commer exhibits will be the Hillman Minx estate car, a delivery van having a 100-cubic-ft. capacity body, a 25-cwt. Superpoise and forward-control vans, a 5-ton Superpoise equipped with a Perkins P.6 oil engine and Eaton two-speed rear axle, and a second model of this type with a tipping body. Underfloor-engined models will include the 5-tonner with drop-side body and two 7-tonners, one of which will be equipped with a Telehoist underbody ram for the tipping gear. A Karrier Bantam 2-ton lorry, equipped with an 11-ft, by 6-ft. body, will also range among the Rootes exhibits.

Eight Dodge models, including two cattle trucks, one with a body by J. H. Jennings and Son, Ltd., and the other by the Reliance Garage (Norwich), Ltd., are to be shown by Dodge Brothers (Britain), Ltd., Kew, Surrey, on Stand 578 C. Both cattle trucks are based on the 5-ton 13-ft. 9-in.-wheelbase chassis, one of which is equipped with the Perkins P.6 oil engine. Another Perkins-engined chassis of this capacity and wheelbase will have a special half-length platform body, and will be shown with ,a Taskpr 8-ton pole semi-trailer loaded with felled timber. Of two other 5-tonners, one will have a market gardener's body and the other a special drop-side body. There will also be two 6-tonners with a spiralbevel two-speed axle, one of which will be equipped with an end-tipping body for the transport of sugar beet, The smallest Dodge exhibit will he a 2-3-ton 11 ft. 9in.-wheelbase model fitted with a van-type body having a load capacity of 450 cubic ft.

A range of two-wheeled trailers having payload capacities from 30 cwt. to 4 tons, and four-wheeled trailers of 24-5 tons capacity, will be shown on Stand 452 B to be occupied by

brewer's body, 12 ft. 6 ins, long and 6 ft. 6 ins. wide. The second model of this type, equipped with 35-in. by 7i-in. tyres for heavier duty, has a 16-ft.-long body with an extended loading board at the front to the height of the cab. The third Foden exhibit will be powered by a Gardner 4LW oil engine, and the transmission includes a five-speed superlow gearbox and an axle ratio of 5.75 to I. The bodywork in this case is made from. RomaHoy light alloy In addition to a full array of tractors on Stand 564 C, the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., Dagenham, will display a full range of commercial vehicles from 5 cwt. to 5 tons capacity on Stand 281 F. In addition to the 5-cwt. and 10-cwt. vans and estate car, there will be a 10-cwt. pickup, with body by Anthony Hoist, Ltd., of special interest to farmers. Of the two 3-ton short-wheelbase chassis, one will be equipped with a four-purpose farmers' utility livestock body made by Marshall Motor Bodies, Ltd. A de-luxe three-horse box body made by Lambourne Garages will be displayed on a Thames 4-ton chassis, and the final Fordson exhibit will be a 5-ton long-wheelbase lorry with Perkins P6 oil engine.

• Telehoist tipping gear will be demonstrated by W. W. Jenkins (Cheltenham), Ltd., of Swindon Lane, Cheltenham, on Stand 645 C. Two of the demonstrations will be staged on Bedford lorries, one being a 5-lonner with a generalpurpose farm body, and the other the new 7-tonner with a 10-ft. 6-in. body. King and Harper, Ltd., Hills Road, Cambridge (Stand 5 C), plans to show

three Standard vehicles with agricultural application, these being an estate car, a pickup truck and a 12-cwt. delivery van with bench-and-bucket-type seats.

On Stand 585 F, which will be occupied by the Low Loading Trailer Co., Ltd., Bedford, there will be 15-cwt. and 30-cwt. trailers, of general-purpose pattern. The 30-cwt. unit has been developed specifically for the large towing capacity of the Land-Rover.

Four special bodies mounted on Austin and Bedford chassis, will be shown by Marshall Motor Bodies, Ltd., Cambridge, on Stand 579 D. There will be a rigid-sided double-deck cattle truck on an Austin 5-ton chassis, the body having a divided and springassisted rear ramp with interlocking rear gates. The top deck hinges to the body sides when not required. The generalpurpose cattle truck on an Austin 2-ton chassis is convertible to a drop-side or platform body. It has a Lake ballbearing ramp, and the tailboard is supplied loose. A Bedford 7-ton chassis is used as 3 basis for the rigid-sided cattlecarrying body which also has a hinged top-deck and spring-assisted rear ramp. The fourth exhibit on this stand will be a special truck built to the specification of Eastern Electricity Board, and mounted on an Austin 25-cwt. chassis and .cab.

The Motocart, made by S. E. Opperman, Ltd., Stirling Corner, B-oreham Wood, Herts, will be shown on Stand 619 E. This model has an air-cooled petrol or vaporizing-oil engine which is connected through a conventional 5-ton-type gearbox and a chain drive to the front wheel. It has a large body with a load capacity of 30 cwt.

Six Land-Rovers, five of them in "working trim," will be shown by the Rover Co., Ltd., Birmingham, on Stand 598 El. The working exhibits will show the vehicle respectively with a power-driven mower attached to the rear power-take-off, with circular-saw bench attached, with capstan winch fitted at the front and rear, and with a DormanSimplex crop sprayer mounted in the body.

The Salop Trailer Co., Ltd., Shrewsbury, has arranged to show six different types of twoand four-wheeled trailers on Stand 469 C. One of the new models to be exhibited is a fourwheeled unit with an all-steel chassis and equipped with a three-way tipping body having overall dimensions of 13 ft. by 6 ft. 6 ins.

A cattle container body, built and constructed on a Morris CVII/40 chassis, will figure among the exhibits of G. C. Smith (Coachworks), Ltd., Long Whatton, Loughborough, Leicester (Stand 177 B). The container will be complete with slatted floor which allows it to be part of the load under the licensing regulations. Provision is made for removing the container, either by block or tackle, or liy jacks at floor level.

Taskers of Andover (1932), Ltd., Andover, Hants, will be showing six trailers ranging from 15 cwt, to 4 tons, on Stand 471 C, in addition to an array of implements. Three single-axle units, a 25 cwt., 35 cwt. and 3-tonner, are equipped with hydraulic tipping gear, whilst a further 3-tonner is arranged for screw tipping. These models are all designed specially for farm work. the 35-cwt. unit, for example, being an unsprung trailer which can be supplied with a fixed body or as a tipping unit with screw or hydraulic gear.

Six different types of bodywork will be displayed on Stand 613 D by Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., Luton, Beds. The Big Bedford 7-ton chassis will form the basis of three of the machines, the Reading, Berks, will be a livestock vehicle with a Luton-type front on one of the new Austin chassis. This body has an adjustable double-deck and sheep rack, both of which can be stowed

below the vehicle when not in use. Guide gates are fitted to the full-width ramp which is controlled by the Vincent coil spring at the rear. The body has a natural-wood stain and varnish finish.
