Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

nNE of the practical aspects of the link-up of association interests as now represented by the National Road Transport Federation, is to be found in the unification of effort in respect of the General Election campaign. Clearly, the industry is faced with the prospect of being State controlled in the event of a Socialist Government getting into power, and the N.R,T.F, has gathered all its forces in a determined fight against this threat.

As mentioned last week, the Federation has prepared a number of -pieces of propaganda -material of which a questionnaire, directed towards Parliamentary candidates,, was reproduced in

full. The " Seven Points of Road Transport Policy "leaflet, as it implies, sets-out what is needed if the industry is to give the service of which it is capable. It deals with high taxes, -regiilations, poor roads, and a call to freedom for vehicle makers:,

The questions of our road system, excessive taxation, and fair competition, are dealt with in a statement of policy of the B.R.F. and the N.R,T.F.

A leaflet making a direct appeal to road-transport workers says that, " Freedom to develop and freedom of choice are the desires of every healthy individual and every industry. Government control and red tape stifle this freedom, add to overhead costs, and breed inactivity.

A considerable amount of valuable material is contained in a " Facts and Figures" memorandum, and' everyone interested in the welfare of the roadtransport industry would do well to assimilate as much of the contents as possible.

One sheet is comprised of a number of pertinent questions which any candidate who is out for nationalizing the industry would find some difficulty in answering. to the satisfaction of his party.

Copier of the foregoing material can he obtained from N.RX.F. headquarters at Roadway House, 146, New Bond' Street, London, W.1, or from local area 'secretaries. "
