The F2000 uses basically the same means of propulsion as developed at MAN by Rudolf Diesel in 1893, but however much development and testing is done, problems still come up in service.
Changing grease nipples for maintenancefree bearings doesn't fulfil expectations in all types of working. Disc brake and pads fare better off-road than we had expected, and they last longer for trucks travelling the motorway than those working in congested traffic—but some operators would still like drums.
It's a similar story with the engines. Some operators are content with the five-cylinder engine while others want the extra power of the six. The vehicles could be described as heavy and over-engineered, and that's the way that those who operate the MAN F2000 8m want it— reliability is top priority In the heavy off-road market the MAN eightwheeler has only a few competitors and, with a back that never breaks, even fewer equals.
