European rules now mean that reefer cargo space temperature recording systems must be independent of the fridge units. In response to this ICS Black Box (UK) has launched TempBox. which independently monitors, records and stores cargo space temperature at pre-set intervals.

The recording interval is determined by consultation with the operator and stored data is downloaded using ICS-developed software.

Up to four sensors can be attached to each TempBox recorder; they can be set with a default range of -40 to «100 C.

As an additional precaution, the TempBox can be linked to an ICS Black Box on-board computer, so monitoring becomes totally automated.

Further advantages of this combination are that warning alerts can be provided should the temperature breach preset limits, and also that other trip data can be recorded to build up a complete operational report.
