• Commercial vehicle driver training places for 800 people have been thrown into doubt with the receivership of national agency Astra Training Services The company says existing packages, such as its national training contracts for BRS, will be honoured.
Nationally the company also offers about 250 'people weeks' a year of HGV repairs, diesel engine overhaul and automotive fitter courses from its 45 centres.
Astra's managers took over the publicly-run Skills Training Agency in 1990.
