of Bourne and its dozen or so staff are busy in a variety of other areas. The firm also represents Tata and Santana, and sells Perodua cars and Kawasaki quad bikes.

"We're agricultural engineers too," says sales director, Glen Bellamy. "So far as Isuzu is concerned, we've been selling 40-plus new vehicles annually and we're aiming to do 50 this year. We're active throughout Lincolnshire and intend to set up a service agent in Lincoln in the coming months.'

How about used lsuzus? "We can sell as many as we can get hold of," Bellamy reports. 'The big problem is that there aren't that many around most of those that we do sell are either buy-backs from Isuzu Trucks or sourced from other dealers, and we occasionally buy from traders.

"As a consequence we only sell one secondhand Isuzu for every two new ones. I'd like to achieve a one-to-one ratio in future. Our used customers tend to look for vehicles that are three years old or more. Every used Isuzu we sell carries a three-month warranty, and generally comes with a year's MoT."

Many of Bellamy's Isuzus go to small businesses: "Landscape gardeners, builders, and so on," says Bellamy. New sales are split roughly 50/50 between the 3.5-tonne NKR (the Grafter has proved especially popular) and the 7.5-tonne NOR. "We do the odd NPR 6.2-tanner as well though," he adds.

Bellamy is enormously impressed by the back-up Fentons receives from the team at Isuzu Truck (UK): 'They give you 110%, and they're the nicest people you could ever wish to deal with," he smiles.
