MOTO HAS SCOTCHED rumours that it plans to buy beleaguered truckstop operator Nightowl.

Recent speculation has suggested that the UK's largest motorway service operator, with 47 sites across the UK, would snap up the Nightowl sites at Carlisle, Newcastle, Penrith, Wolverhampton. Alconbury and Rugby. But a spokesman says that it has no acquisition plans.

Nightowl went into administration three days before Christmas resulting in many redundancies. Rumours had been circuit for weeks about the state o Alconbury-based lirm's fina after it shut its fuel pumps, c opening hours and raised pai rates by up to 70% at some (CM 1 January).

But Kenneth Touhey Hove-based administr Chantrey Vellacott says th may no longer be lookini a buyer, explaining: "We begun to restructure the corn at all sites with the help of an i lion of funds from the pt.! shareholders."
