Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Frejus tunnel company has upgraded a further 20km of the A43 on the French side of the border, promising quicker journey times for hauliers going under the Alps to Italy.

Last week the latest extension of the tolled motorway opened, between St-Marie-deCuines and St-Michel-deMaurienne. It should give the 766,000 truck and bus drivers who use the tunnel every year quicker journey times between the rest of the French motorway network and the industrial areas around Turin.

The road, which incorporates a number of civil engineering and environmental innovations, as Quicker access to the Frejus tunnel. well as ice detection equipment, replaces one of the most congested and dangerous two-way roads in the Alps—until now trucks have sat nose to tail for the last 60km to the tunnel.

0 A new Elf garage and truckstop has opened next to the toll booths at the end of the new stretch of road. It offers parking for around 60 trucks, a drivers' rest room, TV, showers, phones and faxes.
