At a meeting of the South Shields Watch Comthittee the town clerk re ported concerning a conference with the • Minister' of Transport regarding the tin' laden weight of commercial vehicles. ' The Ministry expressed the opinion that a movable pantechnicon body should be included in tte t n7aden weight c.f vehicle. The town e!erk had, therefore, taken steps to give effect to this opinion, but in one case the owner of a vehicle, • acting on the instructions of ha asSocialion, decl'necl to supply the necessary information.
The committee decided to order this owner to produce the vehicle, including the pantechnicon body, at the weighbridge, at the same time threatening penalties for refusal to comply with the order.
