• Rockwell-Standard, the axle-producing division of North American Rockwell Corporation, has bought the Midlandsbased pressings division of Clarke ChapmanJohn Thompson Ltd for £3.65m. The resulting new Rockwell-Thompson division may well become the headquarters for Rockwell-Standard Ltd in the UK. Axle housings and other chassis components, notably for British Leyland, are among the products of the Thompson plants.
