Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

chairman, Passenger Vehicle Operators Association.

1967 has been an exciting and unsettling year for the bus and coach industry. We are still digesting the contents of Mrs. Castle's Transport Bill and shall certainly seek appropriate amendments to safeguard the interest of independent operators. We were pleased that the Traffic Commissioners are to be retained and that excursion and tour operation by existing operators will be safeguarded; the future requires much effort and vigilance on the part of PVOA and personally I have little doubt that 1968 will be a year of stress and strain.

Independent operators are proud of their undertakings and will do all they can to preserve them end to improve the standards of public service which they have for so long provided. In many fields cross-country express services, long-distance excursions, inclusive holiday tours both at home and abroad and in many other fields of transport there is, and will remain, enormous scope for initiative and new development.
