• The crash in the UK truck market has hit Daf hard. The Dutch manufacturer lost Dfl 179.1m (£,55.4m) in the first half of 1991 compared with Dfl 32.1m (£9.9m) in the first six months of last year.
Its share of the Western European market for trucks over 3.5 tonnes sank from 8.6% to 7.8%, although its UK share increased from 22.5% to 23.8%.
